Owned by the National Trust and open to the public, the 14th-century castle of St Michael’s Mount is built on a 300 ft granite island rising from the waters of Mount’s Bay off Marazion.
The original priory, built in 1135, was dedicated to the Archangel who is said to have appeared to local fishermen in AD 495.
At low tide the island is accessible by causeway and a ferry service provides a link to the mainland at other times.
